'Roos Split with Colorado College and Centenary

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team split its two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, falling 3-1 to No. 5-ranked Colorado College before cruising to a 3-0 win over Centenary to wrap up the weekend with three wins in four matches. The 'Roos are now 17-4 overall on the year, with three of those losses coming to nationally ranked opponents.

The 'Roos and Tigers split the first two sets, battling to a 27-29 win for Colorado College in the opener before the 'Roos took set two 27-25. However, the Tigers took the next two sets 25-16 and 25-19 to snap a five-match winning streak for the 'Roos. Riley Abernethy had 11 kills to pace the 'Roos, adding six digs, and Victoria Smith had 10 kills in defeat. Brooklyn Talley posted a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs, and Aubree McCune added 19 assists. Mari Prazak had 19 digs to lead Austin College on defense, and TJ Folse chipped in nine kills in the match.

Austin College rebounded with a dominating victory over the Ladies, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-8, 25-19 to wrap up the weekend. Smith had a huge match for the 'Roos, finishing with 17 kills and a .417 hitting percentage, and Abernethy had 12 kills and 10 digs. She also posted a .321 hitting percentage, as Austin College hit .302 as a team compared to just .027 for Centenary. Cheyenne Dantonio added eight kills and four block assists, and Prazak went over 2,000 career digs in the match, posting 18 in the victory. Talley had 28 assists and 12 digs, and Alyssa Holloway added 10 digs while McCune had 12 assists.
