Thiele Gets NCAA B-Cut Time at Wabash Invitational

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Austin College women's swimmer Sammi Thiele set a new Austin College record and earned an NCAA B-cut in the 100 backstroke on Saturday at the Wabash Invitational, as the 'Roo women ended the day in eighth place with 249 points while the men are currently in ninth place with 138 points.

Thiele took first place in the 100 back, coming in with a time of 56.78, marking the first time an Austin College women's swimmer has had a sub-57 second time in the event. The previous program record of 57.99 was set by former All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference swimmer Lauren Wheeler in 2015. This year, the NCAA B-cut is set at 56.82; by finishing below that time, Thiele now has the potential to earn an invitation to the NCAA Division III Championship Meet.

The Wabash Invitational concludes on Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
