SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped its final home match of the season on Tuesday evening, falling 1-0 to the visiting University of Dallas. The 'Roos are now 9-5-3 overall and 3-5-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Both teams started off slow in the opening half, with just two shot attempts in the opening 20 minutes of action. Each team ended the opening frame with four shots, with two being put on target by Dallas while Austin College was unable to put any of their efforts on goal. Kenedie Lane stopped both shots on frame by the Crusaders, helping the 'Roos keep things level as the teams completed a scoreless opening half.
Dallas broke through early in the second half, as Haley Cline cleaned up a blocked shot attempt by Semya Chancellor, curling a shot from 10 yards out past Lane's outstretched arms to make it a 1-0 game in the 53rd minute of action. That would prove to be the only tally of the game, despite both teams getting good chances down the stretch. Austin College had several good build-ups in the game's final minutes, but the Crusaders managed to turn the 'Roos away to keep it 1-0 at the final horn. Lane finished with five goals for Austin College and Ella Charles stopped both shots she faced for Dallas.
Austin College heads to Houston this weekend to close out the 2024 campaign, taking on the University of St. Thomas on Sunday afternoon.
