'Roos Drop SCAC Opener

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to the visiting University of Dallas at the Dr. Jack Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex. The 'Roos are now 0-3-1 overall on the year.

Dallas scored twice in quick succession midway through the first half to break open what had been a defensive battle in the opening 20 minutes of play, with Andrea Coppi scoring in the 25th minute to get the Crusaders on the board and Livia Le finding the back of the net four minutes later to make it 2-0 heading into halftime. The score remained 2-0 until 15 minutes into the second half, when Claire Reed tallied off a feed from Izzy Barajas to make it 3-0, and Austin College was unable to mount a comeback over the game's final 30 minutes.

The Crusaders, who improved to 2-2 overall, held a 22-to-4 advantage in shot attempts in the match. Heaven Barber made nine saves for Austin College in the loss. The 'Roos will take on Dallas again on Sunday, this time with the game being played in Irving at noon.
