No. 4 Trinity Tops 'Roo Women's Hoops

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team dropped an 84-40 contest at No. 4-ranked Trinity University on Saturday, as the Tigers raced out to a 49-13 halftime lead and limited the 'Roos to just six first half field goals on their way to the win.

Trinity opened the game with an 11-0 scoring run and never looked back, as Austin College was held to single digits in each of the first three quarters, heading into the fourth trailing 75-20. Megan O'Neil scored all of her team-high 10 points in the fourth as Austin College put 20 points on the board in the final quarter, knocking down 4-of-5 shots and 2-of-3 from deep in the period. O'Neil finished the game shooting 4-of-7 overall and 2-of-5 from deep.

Marianna Bert came off the bench to chip in seven points, hitting 5-of-6 free throws, and Paulina Porter added six points on 3-of-5 shooting for the 'Roos. Sarah Putnicki and Naomi Anamekwe each pulled down five rebounds to lead Austin College, as the Tigers held a 41-25 advantage on the glass. Austin College finished the game shooting 36.6% from the field and made only 2-of-13 three pointers, while Trinity hounded the 'Roos into 31 turnovers in the game. Maggie Shipley led Trinity with 18 points and Addie Putnam added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers.

Austin College closes the season next Saturday when they host the University of Dallas.
