SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's basketball team held a 59-56 lead with just under four minutes left on Saturday against Centenary, but the Ladies closed the game on a 12-3 run to hand the 'Roos a 68-62 defeat.

Sarah Putnicki had a career-best day for Austin College, scoring 18 points to go with 12 rebounds while making 6-of-12 field goal attempts and 6-of-7 from the free throw line, but the 'Roos were forced into 21 turnovers compared to just seven for Centenary. Austin College took a 13-11 lead after the opening quarter before the Ladies tied things up at 28 apiece at halftime, and the 'Roos would go on top 49-48 heading into the final period. That came after Centenary surged on top 45-33 midway through the third, as the 'Roos closed the quarter with a 16-3 run capped by a Putnicki basket at the buzzer.

Putnicki opened the fourth quarter scoring and Sarah Gwin hit a three to make it 54-48, and after the Ladies closed the gap to tie things up, Megan O'Neil knocked down a triple to make it a 57-54 game. A bucket from Putnicki put Austin College ahead 59-56 with 3:39 left to play, but that's when Centenary would start their run to take the lead, and they would hold on in the final minutes.

Gwin finished with 15 points while adding four rebounds and three assists, and O'Neil hit 4-of-7 threes on her way to 12 points. Naomi Anamekwe chipped in 11 points and six rebounds in the loss. Amiyah Barrow led Centenary with 16 points and Alana Jones added nine points and 13 rebounds.
