SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team struggled to get things going offensively on Tuesday evening against the visiting University of the Ozarks, as the 'Roos fell 64-58 to drop to 0-2 on the season.

Austin College hit just 3-of-36 attempts from the field in the opening half, with all three of those makes coming from beyond the arc. Ozarks took advantage of the offensive woes for Austin College go to on top 8-7 after the opening quarter and 25-19 at halftime. The 'Roos got to the free throw line 12 times in the third quarter, hitting 10 of those attempts to trim the margin to 39-37 heading into the final period. A basket by Marianna Bert early in the fourth put Austin College on top 43-42, and Sarah Gwin scored to make it a 45-42 lead for the 'Roos with 7:32 left to play.

However, the Eagles would use a 7-0 run to regain the lead and surge on top 49-45, but a pair of free throws from Lauren Traylor gave Austin College a 55-53 lead with 2:18 left in the game. The Eagles would get back-to-back buckets from Amanda Turpin to go back on top 57-55, and Ozarks would maintain the lead the rest of the way. Austin College finished the game shooting just 20.3% from the field while making 3-of-20 attempts from long distance. The 'Roos outscored the Eagles 27-16 at the free throw line, but it wasn't enough to overcome Ozarks.

Gwin led the 'Roos with 19 points on 6-of-17 shooting, and Bert hit 10-of-14 free throws on her way to 12 points coming off the bench. Traylor and Paulina Porter each chipped in six points and eight rebounds in the loss. Turpin had 14 points and eight rebounds for Ozarks, and Judy Forbes grabbed 19 boards for the Eagles.
