Bulldogs Take Two From 'Roo Softball

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of is doubleheader against No. 4-ranked Texas Lutheran on Saturday afternoon, falling 11-0 in game one and 9-0 in game two to wrap up their weekend series with the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in game one, but Austin College kept things close through the first four innings, heading into the fifth trailing 3-0 after Texas Lutheran pushed another run across in the top of the third. However, in the top of the fifth the Bulldogs managed to get eight runs across to make it 11-0, ending the game after five innings of action. Hailie Swiatkowski took the loss for Austin College, giving up nine runs on 11 hits in 4.0 innings of work.

Sydney Oullette got the win for Texas Lutheran, giving up three hits in a complete game performance, while three different 'Roos had one hit apiece in the loss. Madi Johnson led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Texas Lutheran jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening frame of game two and Austin College was unable to get much going offensively, managing just two hits, both by Kaitlyn Barrett. Barrett had a double and added a stolen base in the game for Austin College. The Bulldogs got five more runs in the third to make it 9-0, and that's how things would end after five innings to cap the series. 

Allie Jeter got the loss for Austin College, giving up nine runs on six hits with five walks issued in 3.0 innings of action, while Amanda White earned the win with a complege game, nine strikeout performance for the Bulldogs.
