'Roo Softball Drops Two at Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College softball team fell twice at Southwestern University on Saturday, dropping game one of their doubleheader 8-0 and game two 9-1. The 'Roos are now 3-17 overall and 0-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In game one, Southwestern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and tacked on four more runs in the second to make it 5-0 and the 'Roos were unable to get any offense going to keep pace, as Pirates pitcher Lindsey Longuet tossed a no-hitter in the five-inning game. The Pirates added a run in the third and two more in the fourth to make it an 8-0 final score. Reina Serrano took the loss, surrendering eight runs - seven earned - in 3.1 innings of work.

Game two saw Southwestern plate three runs in the first and three more in the second to take a 6-0 lead, with another run coming across in the third to make it 7-0. The Pirates would score twice more in the fourth to make it 9-0 before Austin College got on the board in the top of the fifth, getting an RBI single by Ashley Elliott to make it a 9-1 final in the five-inning contest. Elliott, Avery Atencio, Nikole High, and Jaide Vidal each collected a hit in the loss, while Hannah Richendollar took the loss after giving up nine runs, six of which were earned, in 3.0 innings.
