Four From Men's Water Polo Earn Academic All-District

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College men's water polo players Jacob Johnson, Nikolas Koelzer, Alan Rosenberg, and Nic Ruggiero have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically during the 2023-24 season.

The 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Johnson, a sophomore from Eastvale, Calif., earned Academic All-District accolades after completing the academic year with a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.54 as a dual major in business administration and kinesiology, while also playing a key role for the 'Roos during their 2023 fall campaign.

Koelzer, a senior from Richmond, was named Academic All-District with a 3.83 grade-point-average with a major in computer science while also being one of the top performers in the pool last season. He was also named Austin College's male Bo Miller Award winner as the senior male student-athlete with the highest GPA.

Rosenberg, a senior from Naperville, Ill., was an Academic All-District selection after completing the year with a grade-point-average of 3.69 with a major in computer science, in addition to serving as the team's starting goalkeeper throughout the 2023 season.

Ruggiero, a sophomore fom San Juan Capistrano, Calif., rounds out the Academic All-District selections from men's water polo after playing a major role for the 'Roos throughout the season and finishing the year with a grade-point-average of 3.56. Ruggiero is undecided in his major.
 
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. NCAA and NAIA Women's At-Large Academic All-America First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. The Men's At-Large Teams will be announced on Wednesday, July 17.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
