11 From Men's Water Polo Earn ACWPC Academic Honors

IRVINE, Calif. - The Association of College Water Polo Coaches, the official coaches association of NCAA and collegiate water polo coaches in the United States, unveils the Men's All-Academic Awards for the 2023 season. This esteemed recognition is a testament to the outstanding achievements of student-athletes who exemplify excellence not only in the pool but also in the classroom. 

Among those honored were 11 members of the Austin College men's water polo team, which boasts a collective team grade-point-average of 3.12. Earning Outstanding Academic recognition were Greyson Gaworecki, Jacob Johnson, Nick Bates, and Nikolas Koelzer, while Aidan Wade, Alan Rosenberg, Andrew Galt, Gabriel Daniels, and Nic Ruggiero were honored in the Superior category. Rounding out the recognition were Josh Nelms and Tobias Ward in the Excellent category.

To earn Outsanding honors, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA between 3.71-4.0, while the Superior category includes student-athletes with a GPA between 3.41 and 3.7. Those in the Excellent category boast a GPA between 3.2 and 3.4.

Selected from a group of remarkable candidates across various disciplines, the Academic All Americans represent the epitome of dedication, perseverance, and scholarly prowess. These individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to maintaining high academic standards while excelling in their respective sports, showcasing the perfect blend of intellect and athleticism.

The awards for the 2023 season recognize 594 total students from 51 colleges and universities. These students maintained at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
