'Roos Set to Open Up MPSF Tournament

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's water polo team will take on Division I power USC on Friday afternoon as the team opens up the MPSF Tournament in Los Angeles. The 'Roos take on the Trojans at 4:45 p.m. (Central) in the first round of postseason competition.

The winner of that game moves on to face the winner of UCLA and Washington & Jefferson, with that game taking place at 4:45 p.m. (Central) on Saturday. The losing team will play the loser of that matchup, with that game set to be played on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (Central).

The MPSF Tournament features four Division I programs in USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Cal, as well as four Division III teams in Austin College, Washington & Jefferson, Augustana, and Penn State Behrend. Austin College finished the regular season with a 5-13 overall record while playing a strong schedule featuring a number of Division I and Division II programs. Against the Division III competitors at this weekend's event, Austin College went 2-0 against W&J and PSB, while losing a pair of tightly contested games against Augustana. 

The tournament continues into Sunday, with the East Championship taking place at 3:00 p.m. (Central) and the West Championship following at 4:45 on Sunday, while the East and West third place games will take place earlier in the day.
