Men's Water Polo Plays Well to Open Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Austin College men's water polo team performed well to open the 2022 campaign, falling to Division I opponents Brown and Air Force by scores of 17-7 and 16-4 but dominating fellow Division III program Connecticut College 19-8 Saturday on day one of the Bruno Invitational.

Max Wade, the program's all-time leading goal scorer, added to his career totals with three goals against Brown, and Dylan McArthur tallied twice in the game. Evan Cueva found the back of the cage once, and Aidan Wade scored his first collegiate goal against the Division I program. Alan Rosenberg had nine blocks while tending the net, and Max Wade added three drawn exclusions to his stat line.

Against Connecticut College, Wade erupted for six goals while adding three assists and two steals to pace the 'Roos in their first victory of the season, while Cade Griffith put four shots into the back of the cage. McArthur and Andrew Galt each tallied twice, while Cueva scored once and Jack Stack picked up the first goal of his collegiate career. Rosenberg had seven blocks, a pair of steals, and an assist in the win.

The 'Roos wrapped up the day against Air Force, with Griffith scoring twice to pace Austin College offensively. The 'Roos also got a goal apiece from Galt and Aidan Wade, while Wade also came away with five steals. Liam Roberts had four blocks in goal, while Rosenberg added three.
