Comets Defeat 'Roos 5-4 In A Nail-Biter

SHERMAN, Tex. - In their first home match since the 7-2 victory over Whitworth, the Austin College Men's Tennis Team fought valiantly to a 4-5 defeat against the UT-Dallas Comets.

UT-Dallas entered the match ranked #13 in last year's West Region Rankings, while Austin College remained at #17 from the year end standings.  The 'Roos jumped out to a 2-1 lead thanks to Kenneth Hardy/Josh Granberry at Line 1, and Andres Padilla/Siddharth Kortikere at Line 2.

But the lead would not be large enough to best the Comets in singles play, as the ASC foe took each of the first three courts in straight-sets, and clinched the match in a third-set at Line 4.  Padilla and Erik Meendsen would win three-set matches of their own at Lines 5 and 6, closing the margin of victory to only 1 point.

Austin College travels to Portland, OR for their next four matches over spring break.  First up is Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR on Thursday, March 15th at 3:00PM.
