Catchpole's Hat Trick Leads 'Roos Past Centenary

SHERMAN, Texas - Louis Catchpole recorded his second hat trick of the season as the Austin College men's soccer team came away with a convincing 4-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Centenary College on Friday evening, bringing the 'Roos to 4-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play on the year.

SHERMAN, Texas - Louis Catchpole recorded his second hat trick of the season as the Austin College men's soccer team came away with a convincing 4-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Centenary College on Friday evening, bringing the 'Roos to 4-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play on the year.

Austin College scored twice in each half and were in control throughout, taking an early lead on a goal by Catchpole off of a free kick from nearly 30 yards out in the 12th minute of play. The 'Roos doubled their lead 14 minutes later, with Sam Spencer heading home a cross from Pierce Wear at the 25:55 mark to make it 2-0, and that's how things would stand heading into the break.

Centenary started to find more offensive chances in the second half, out-shooting the 'Roos 13-to-5 after halftime, but Austin College maintained a comfortable cushion beginning with a header from Catchpole off of a throw-in by Spencer in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0, and after Dylan Clark scored on a penalty kick six minutes later, Catchpole completed his hat trick and notched his ninth goal of the year on another header, this time assisted by Marco Guzman in the 80th minute of action. Centenary tacked on one more goal from Carter Webb in the 83rd minute, but that's as close as the Gents would get down the stretch.

Jayson Baldwin had a pair of saves for Austin College and Sebastian Lutin made three stops for Centenary. The 'Roos are home again on Sunday, hosting the University of the Ozarks at noon at Apple Stadium.
