Late Goal Lifts 'Roos Past Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team scored in the closing minutes in its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the year to earn a 1-0 victory over the University of Dallas on Saturday evening. The 'Roos are now 2-6-1 overall on the year.

The 'Roos dominated possession for much of the game, creating nine chances in the opening half compared to just three for Dallas. Overall, Austin College held a 21-to-10 shot advantage, including putting 10 shots on goal compared to just two for Dallas in the match. Connor Tullis stopped both of the shots he faced to earn the clean sheet for the 'Roos.

The game remained scoreless until the 86th minute of action, when Daniel Gomez finished on a cross into the box from Ethan Pilarski to put Austin College on top, and the 'Roos would hold off the Crusaders from there. The 'Roos had multiple strong chances toward the end of the second half, finally breaking through with under five minutes remaining despite a number of strong saves from Dallas keeper Anthony Gonzalez.

The 'Roos are back in action next weekend for a pair of home games, taking on Schreiner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Trinity at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
