This Week in 'Roo Athletics

It's a big week for Austin College athletics, as the 'Roo swim team competes at the SCAC Championship Meet, while basketball, women's water polo, tennis, baseball, and softball are all in action at home and on the road.

The 2024 SCAC Swim Championships get underway on Wednesday evening in Garland, with the 'Roos continuing to compete through Saturday evening to wrap up their 2023-24 campaign. They'll get things started at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then finals on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will begin at 6:00 p.m. each day, with preliminary heats taking place at 10:30 a.m.

The 'Roo men's and women's tennis teams will be home on Friday for their first match of the season, after both of their season openers were rained out. Austin College hosts Southwestern University at 5:30 p.m. They'll then head out on the road on Saturday, traveling to take on Texas A&M-Texarkana at 2:00 p.m.

The Austin College baseball team will also get its season underway this weekend, after likewise having their first doubleheader canceled due to wet field conditions. The 'Roos will head to Belton to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor for a trio of games, starting with a single game at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.

The men's and women's basketball teams are headed to Colorado Springs for their final regular season games of the season, taking on Colorado College. The men will tip off first at 5:30 p.m. (MST)  in a big game with the Tigers as they continue to fight for a spot in the postseason, and the women follow at 7:30 p.m. (MST) after having clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament last weekend.

The 'Roo softball team is headed to Alpine on Saturday, where they'll take on Sul Ross State for a doubleheader starting at 6:00 p.m., and then on Sunday they'll square off against the Lobos for a single game at 10:00 a.m.

The Austin College women's water polo team will be heading west as well, as they travel to Santa Clara, Calif., for the Bronco Invite. They'll open things up on Saturday against San Jose State at 1:10 p.m., and then face the host school Santa Clara at 5:50 p.m. On Sunday, the 'Roos will take on Cal State East Bay at 9:00 a.m., and then close out the weekend against Cal State Monterey Bay at 12:15 p.m. All times noted for those games are Pacific.
