Austin College SAAC Elects New Leadership for 2020-21

SHERMAN, Texas - In a vote by the members of the Austin College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, new leadership has been elected heading into the 2020-2021 academic calendar. Men's basketball player Justice Mercadel will serve as the group's president, baseball player Aneurin Minson will be the vice president, and cross country and distance track runner Danielle Lozano will lead the group's communications and community outreach goals.

Mercadel also serves as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's representative on the national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and last year served in the role now being taken on by Lozano. Mercadel takes over the president role from graduating senior womens swimmer Sophie Garriga, while Minson will fill the role left by graduating women's tennis player Katie Seibert.

Heading into next year, the trio will lead the Austin College SAAC's efforts with an eye toward enhancing community outreach and opportunities for service within the Sherman community, among other initiatives throughout the course of the year.
