AC Athletics Update 3/29/2019

Alright, #RooNation.  As the month of March comes to a close, we need your help getting our Student-Athletes through the home stretch of their Spring Sports Seasons.  Softball and Baseball are home Tonight, with more games tomorrow.  Women’s Water Polo travels to St. Paul, Minnesota for four games over Saturday and Sunday, and Distance Track travels to Oklahoma Baptist in anticipation for their SCAC Track Meet.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis are off this weekend, but the SCAC Conference Championships looms ahead from 4/19 – 4/21, so keep your eyes peeled for that and much more in this final March edition of the AC Athletics Update.

Softball

The Kangaroos battled Schreiner to a 7-6 thriller in the first of 4 games last week, but were swept by the Mountaineers on the weekend.

AC returns to Old Settlers Park to face the highly touted Texas Lutheran University and will be eager to showcase their talents in front of a home crowd with beautiful weather.  Video and live stats available at ACRoos.com and all updates will be communicated via @ACSports and @ACRoosSoftball.

But our Diamond Cutters return home to face Schreiner this weekend.  So take yourself out to the ball game and cheer on your Kangaroos vs the Mountaineers tonight at 7:00PM and tomorrow at 1:00 and 4:00PM.  Video and live stats for the game are available via ACRoos.com, and you can stay advised to all updates via @ACSports.

We can expect these records and many more to fall this weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma as the ‘Roos run in the OBU Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Baptist.  The events begin at 11:00AM, so follow @ACRoosXCTrack to stay up to date with start times for events in which our ‘Roos our scheduled to compete.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

Men’s and Women’s Tennis were able to snag a victory despite projected inclement weather last weekend, with the Women’s Tennis Team defeating McMurry 5-3 for the first time in over 5 years.

The latest ITA Rankings came out on March 28th, and our Women’s Tennis Team climbed to #10 in the West region; the highest ranking in program history.  Individually, Sophomore Melody Duong and Junior Diana Carvajalino were named SCAC Doubles Team of the week, and entered the doubles rankings for the first time this year at #10 (another program best).  Duong was listed as the #17 Singles Player in the West Region.

The Men dropped to #19 in the West after defeating McMurry 7-2 and falling 5-0 to #2 Trinity at SMU.  Senior co-captain Kenneth Hardy and Junior Siddharth Kortikere stayed in the top-10 Doubles rankings, keeping their hopes alive for an NCAA Tournament bid at the end of the year.

The ‘Roos are off this weekend, but face three SCAC opponents in Georgetown, TX and Seguin, TX on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Baseball and Softball are at home this weekend.  We always appreciate the support of #RooNation over in the AC Athletics Department, so please make your way over to Baker Field and Old Settlers Park to watch some great SCAC matchups that will help determine participation in the SCAC Tournament at the end of the year.
