Three From 'Roo Volleyball Earn All-SCAC
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College volleyball players Laynie Kovacs, TJ Folse, and Mattie Duncan have been named All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers following outstanding 2024 campaigns, the league office has announced.
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College volleyball players Laynie Kovacs, TJ Folse, and Mattie Duncan have been named All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers following outstanding 2024 campaigns, the league office has announced.
Kovacs, a sophomore libero from McKinney, was a first team All-SCAC pick after leading the conference with 725 digs on the year, finishing second in the league with an average of 5.66 digs-per-set. She also ranked first in the conference with 78 service aces, and was named the conference's defensive player of the week twice this season.
Folse, a senior right side from Deport, was also named first team All-SCAC following a year in which she paced the conference with 366 kills, ranking eighth with 2.86 kills-per-set, and also finished fifth in the league with 483 digs. Folse was 10th in the conference with an average of 3.77 digs-per-set, and earned conference offensive player of the week accolades once this season.
Duncan, a senior middle hitter from Fort Worth, was an honorable mention All-SCAC selection following a campaign in which she ranked third in the conference in both total blocks and block assists, with 107 and 83, respectively, and fourth with 18 block solos. She was also 15th in the SCAC with 234 kills, and boasted a .242 hitting percentage.
