
Folse, Kovacs Earn SCAC Weekly Honors
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College volleyball players TJ Folse and Laynie Kovacs have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their oustanding performances in four matches last week.
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College volleyball players TJ Folse and Laynie Kovacs have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their oustanding performances in four matches last week.
Folse, a senior right side from Deport, had a monster week for the 'Roos as they went 3-1, including 2-0 against conference opponents, averaging 3.92 kills and 4.42 points per set with a .273 attacking percentage. Folse averaged 5.33 kills per set and had a .378 hitting percentage against SCAC opponents, and added 3.0 digs per set in the team's four matches.
Kovacs, a sophomore libero from McKinney, had a huge week as well, totaling 87 digs for an average of 7.25 per set, including 8.83 per set against SCAC foes. Kovacs set an Austin College record for the most digs in a three-set match when she posted 29 in a 3-0 sweep of McMurry, and followed that up with 24 in another sweep over Dallas. Kovacs also had 15 assists and nine service aces for the week.
