'Roos Scare Up Halloween Sweep of McMurry

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team celebrated Halloween with a three-set sweep over visiting McMurry University, as the 'Roos treated themselves to their second win over the War Hawks of the year to improve to 16-11 overall and 8-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Laynie Kovacs set a new Austin College program record for most digs in a three-set match, finishing with 29, as the 'Roos battled to a 29-27 first set win before taking set two 25-23 and cruising to a 25-12 win in the third set to clinch the sweep. TJ Folse had a huge game offensively for Austin College, leading all players with 18 kills and only one attacking error for a hitting percentage of .400. Rachel Sadler added 10 kills, Mattie Duncan had eight, and Samantha Graham had seven in the match. Folse added nine digs, while Tatum Torres chipped in 13 in the victory.

Brianne Tseng led the 'Roos with 21 assists and also posted 11 digs, and Madison manning had 19 assists and eight digs, and Kovacs also had four service aces to add to her record-setting defensive effort. Kovacs also finished the match with six assists. Addyson Tiffin paced McMurry with 11 kills and Carli Colbert had 19 assists, 11 digs, and four kills for the War Hawks.
