'Roo Volleyball Falls to Southeastern Oklahoma
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team saw its seven match win streak come to an end on Wednesday evening in Hughey Gym, as the 'Roos fell 3-1 to NCAA Division II opponent Southeastern Oklahoma. The 'Roos are now 12-7 overall on the year.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team saw its seven match win streak come to an end on Wednesday evening in Hughey Gym, as the 'Roos fell 3-1 to NCAA Division II opponent Southeastern Oklahoma. The 'Roos are now 12-7 overall on the year.
The 'Roos dropped the opening set 25-23 before rebounding with a 25-19 win in set two, and Austin College had the lead at 22-18 in the third set before Southeastern rallied past them to take a 26-24 win to go ahead 2-1. The Savage Storm clinched the match with a 25-23 fourth set win, pulling away after the 'Roos had closed to within a point at 21-20. Rita Araya paced the 'Roos with 12 kills and a .600 hitting percentage, adding four total blocks in the defeat. TJ Folse added 12 kills and 18 digs, and also had a pair of service aces, while Laynie Kovacs had a team-high 24 digs and four service aces.
Brianne Tseng led the 'Roos with with 22 assists and added nine digs, and Madison Manning had 20 assists and eight digs. Mattie Duncan, Victoria Larson, and Samantha Graham each had six kills for the 'Roos, while D'Nari Mills paced the Savage Storm with 19 kills and added 17 digs, and Noelia Rocha had 12 kills for SOSU. Ruthie Forson had 38 assists for Southeastern. Austin College gets back into conference play this weekend in Houston, taking on Southwestern University and Trinity on Saturday.
