'Roos Top Dallas and LeTourneau

IRVING, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a Saturday sweep of the University of Dallas and LeTourneau, giving the 'Roos four straight wins and bringing their record to 9-6 on the year. With the win over UD, they also improved to 2-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

IRVING, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a Saturday sweep of the University of Dallas and LeTourneau, giving the 'Roos four straight wins and bringing their record to 9-6 on the year. With the win over UD, they also improved to 2-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos took down the Crusaders by a score of 3-0, winning 25-21, 25-19, 25-17 in their second conference match of the season. Austin College hit .227 as a team, compared to .102 for Dallas. The 'Roos also had 10 total team blocks and 11 service aces. Rita Araya and Rachel Sadler led a balanced attack with eight kills each, with Araya adding three block assists and Sadler finishing with two. Madison Manning had 13 assists and Brianne Tseng chipped in 12, along with three service aces, and TJ Folse paced the 'Roos with 13 digs. 

Austin College dropped the first set against LeTourneau 25-17, but rebounded with three straight victories to earn a 3-1 decision. The 'Roos took the second set 25-23, the third 25-17, and clinched the win with a 25-16 fourth set. Folse led Austin College with 10 kills and added 11 digs, and Mattie Duncan had eight kills and boasted a .500 hitting percentage. Manning had 15 assists and 10 digs, and Tseng added nine assists, seven digs, and four kills. Laynie Kovacs finished with a team-best 20 digs in the victory.
