'Roo Volleyball Opens SCAC Play with Victory

ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team went on the road to open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Thursday, taking down McMurry University 3-1 to improve to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the SCAC.

ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team went on the road to open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Thursday, taking down McMurry University 3-1 to improve to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the SCAC.

After dropping the opening set 25-21, the 'Roos came roaring back with three convincing victories in a row to earn a match win. Austin College took the second set 25-11, the third set 25-15, and capped the win off with another 25-11 win in the fourth set. The 'Roos hit better than .200 as a team in each of those final three sets, finishing the match with a team hitting percentage of .188 in the win. TJ Folse led the way with 13 kills and Victoria Larson added eight with a .400 hitting percentage. Both Rita Araya and Samantha Graham had seven kills, with Araya adding three block solos and four block assists. 

Laynie Kovacs paced Austin College with 23 digs, and Tatum Torress added 17 while Folse chipped in 12. Madison Manning had a team-high 15 assists and had five digs, and Brianne Tseng had 14 assists and seven digs in the win.
