'Roos Take Two to Open Millsaps Invitational

JACKSON, Miss. - The Austin College volleyball team kicked off its weekend trip to Millsaps with a pair of wins, topping Huntingdon 3-0 before besting LeTourneau 3-1. The 'Roos are now 5-5 overall on the year, and will be taking on Millsaps and Belhaven on Saturday.

The 'Roos opened the day with a sweep of Huntingdon, cruising to victory by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-22. The 'Roos used a balanced attack, with both TJ Folse and Rachel Sadler notching eight kills while Mattie Duncan chipped in seven. Duncan also had five block assists, while Rita Araya had five total blocks, including two solos. Madison Manning had 17 assists and seven digs while adding five service aces, and Brianne Tseng chipped in 10 assists. Laynie Kovacs paced the 'Roos with 26 digs, and Folse finished with 18. Tatum Torres added 11 digs and five service aces in the victory.

Against LeTourneau, the 'Roos battled to a 28-26 first set victory before taking the second 25-14. After LeTourneau kept the match going with a 25-17 third set win, Austin College clinched things by taking the fourth set 25-23. Folse had 14 kills, 16 digs, and six block assists to lead Austin College, while Sadler added 10 kills, Araya had eight along with nine block assists, and Victoria Larson chipped in seven kills and seven block assists. Austin College totaled 32 blocks in the match as a team. Manning had 23 assists and 15 digs, and Tseng added 15 digs and nine assists. Kovacs had another strong match, finishing with 16 digs and 10 assists, and Torres also notched double-digits in digs, finishing with 10.
