'Roos Fall Twice in SCAC Competition

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team dropped both of its matches on Friday in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday, falling 3-0 to Texas Lutheran and 3-1 to St. Thomas. The 'Roos are now 12-5 overall.

In the opening match of the day against TLU, the Bulldogs topped the 'Roos by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-20, with Mattie Duncan leading the 'Roos with seven kills while Victoria Smith added six. Riley Abernethy had five kills and nine digs, while Laynie Kovacs paced Austin College defensively with 22 digs. Brianne Tseng had 14 assists and Madison Manning added nine in the loss for the 'Roos.

Against St. Thomas, the 'Roos took the first set 25-21 before the Celts won the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 26-24. Olivia Linton and Samantha Graham each had seven kills to lead Austin College, with Smith adding six in the loss. Kovacs once again had a team-high in digs, finishing with 26, while Tseng and Manning each had 12 assists for the "Roos.
