'Roos Fall in SCAC Tournament Opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College volleyball team saw its season come to a close on Friday on the campus of Colorado College, falling 3-1 to Texas Lutheran in the opening round of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The 'Roos finish the year with an overall record of 16-17.

The 'Roos fell 25-17 in the opening set before bouncing back with a 25-22 second set victory to even the match, but the Bulldogs responded by taking the next to sets 25-17, 25-14 to clinch things and end Austin College's 2022 campaign. Victoria Smith and Riley Abernethy each had big performances for Austin College with 12 kills apiece, and Abernethy added 11 digs in defeat. TJ Folse added nine kills, five digs, and four block assists, and Chloe Miller paced the 'Roos with 17 digs.

Austin College hit just .132 as a team, compared to.267 for Texas Lutheran, with the 'Roos committing 25 attacking errors. Madison Manning and Brianne Tseng each had strong games setting the ball against the Bulldogs, with Manning finishing with 19 assists and 11 digs while Tseng had 18 assists and nine digs. Tatum Torres chipped in 15 digs and three assists in defeeat.
