'Roos Split to Open SCAC Play

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College volleyball team split its first two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches of the year on Saturday, falling 3-0 to No. 2-ranked Trinity University before sweeping Schreiner 3-0.

The 'Roos dropped their match against Trinity by scores of 10-25, 21-25, 20-25 to open up conference competition, as the 'Roos had 23 kills and 23 attacking errors as a team for a .000 team hitting percentage in the loss. Jazmyn Kizziar and Riley Abernethy each had six kills to pace the 'Roos, and Victoria Smith added five. Brianne Tseng had nine assists, while Chloe Miller had five assists and seven digs. Madison Manning chipped in seven assists in the loss.

In the second match of the day, the 'Roos cruised past Schreiner by scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-19, with Cheyenne Dantonio leading the way with nine kills. Dantonio had a hitting percentage of .471 in the match, and added four block assists. Smith had seven kills, and Kizziar chipped in six for the 'Roos. Manning and Tatum Torres each had 13 digs to lead the 'Roos, while Tseng had eight assists and nine digs in the victory.
