'Roos Upset No. 20 Colorado College

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a pair of big wins on Sunday in Shreveport, starting the day with a big 3-2 upset victory over No. 20-ranked Colorado College before adding a 3-1 win over host Centenary to move to 3-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos found themselves up 24-22 in the opening set against the Tigers before Colorado College came back for a 26-24 win, but Austin College took the next two sets by scores of 25-22, 25-20. Colorado College forced a fifth set by winning the fourth 25-18, but the 'Roos dominated in the final set for a 15-7 win. The victory marks Austin College's first over the Tigers since October 20, 2012.

Victoria Smith and Riley Abernethy each had 10 kills for Austin College, with Abernethy adding 15 digs. Brianna Barch had seven total blocks, and Chloe Miller paced the 'Roos with 35 digs. Brianne Tseng had a team-best 26 assists while Madison Manning added 18, and Mattie Duncan and Jazmyn Kizziar each chipped in eight kills in the victory.

Austin College closed the weekend with a four-set win over Centenary, winning 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 25-13. Kizziar and Smith had 17 and 16 kills, respectively, to pace Austin College and Tseng had 30 assists. Manning chipped in 21 assists, and Abernethy had nine kills for the 'Roos. Tatum Torres led the way defensively with 24 digs while Alyssa Holloway added 19 and Abernethy finished with 14.
