'Roos Fall Twice on Day One of Oregon Trip

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Austin College volleyball team fell in each of its first two matches on its Oregon road trip on Friday, dropping a 3-1 match against George Fox and a 3-0 decision against Linfield. The 'Roos are now 5-3 overall on the year.

Against George Fox, the 'Roos fell 25-18 in the opening set before coming back for a 25-21 win to even up the match, but George Fox took the next two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22 to hand the 'Roos the defeat. Riley Abernethy had 12 kills and 10 digs for Austin College, and Victoria Smith added 10 kills in the match. TJ Folse added nine kills, while Chloe Miller and Alyssa Holloway led the 'Roos with 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Brianne Tseng had 25 assists for Austin College, and Madison Manning added 16.

In the second match of the day, Linfield swept the 'Roos by scores of 26-24, 25-22, and 25-19 as Austin College hit just .106 as a team. Abernethy had a team-best six kills and Mattie Duncan added five, while Manning and Tseng had nine and six assists, respectively. Austin College's two setters also led the 'Roos defensively with six digs apiece.
