Austin College Sweeps Regis and McMurry

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team bounced back from their first defeat of the season last night by sweeping Regis College and McMurry University on Saturday, topping both schools by scores of 3-0. The 'Roos are now 5-1 overall on the year.

The 'Roos opened up the day by topping Regis by scores of 25-21 in the first two sets, and capped off the victory with a dominant 25-13 third set. Austin College hit .341 as a team in the win, using a balanced attack and with just seven hitting errors collectively. Victoria Smith had seven kills with a .467 attack percentage to lead the way, and Jaiden Tocquigny, Riley Abernethy, and Olivia Linton each chipped in six kills in the match. Abernethy had six service aces, and Tatum Torres paced the 'Roos defensively with 13 digs hile Tocquigny and Cheyenne Dantonio each had four total blocks. Brianne Tseng had a team-best 21 assists in the win.

Austin College wrapped up its busy weekend with its fifth sweep in six matches, topping McMurry by scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-20. The 'Roos hit .308 overall, including a spectacular .593 team percentage in the opening set. Linton paced Austin College with 11 kills and just one attacking error, finishing with a .474 attack percentage, and Smith, Abernethy, and Mattie Duncan each chipped in seven kills. Abernethy and Alyssa Holloway each had 11 digs, while Torres once again led the 'Roos in that department with 16. Tseng had 17 assists and six digs, and Madison Manning chipped in 15 assists and nine digs.
