'Roo Volleyball Sweeps Arlington Baptist

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team had to battle but earned a three-set sweep of Arlington Baptist on Monday night in Hughey Gym, topping the Patriots 3-0 to improve to 19-8 overall on the season.

The 'Roos took the first set 25-18 and held off the Patriots 25-22 in set two, but found themselves trailing 17-9 before storming back with a 16-5 run to close things out and take the third set by a score of 25-22 to get the sweep. Austin College had a .214 hitting percentage in the match, compared to .034 for the Patriots, as Arlington Baptist had 28 attacking errors against just 13 in the win for the 'Roos.

Riley Abernethy had 13 kills and a .308 attacking percentage for Austin College, chipping in eight digs and three block assists in the victory. Jazmyn Kizziar had six kills, and Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos with 17 digs. Brianne Tseng led Austin College with 16 assists, while Brooklyn Talley had 11 assists in the win. Mattie Duncan and Brianna Barch had six and five total blocks, respectively, for the 'Roos, and Olivia Linton and Victoria Smith each had four kills.
