'Roo Volleyball Stays Unbeaten

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the young season with a pair of wins on Friday, topping Rhodes College 3-0 before wrapping up the night with a 3-1 win over McMurry University.

Victoria Smith had 10 kills to pace Austin College as the 'Roos defeated Rhodes by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-22 in the first match of the day. Smith boasted a .320 hitting percentage in the match, adding five total blocks. Cheyenne Dantonio added seven kills and also totaled five blocks, and Riley Abernethy had six kills and seven digs. Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos with 14 digs, and Brooklyn Talley had 13 assists and six digs. Brianne Tseng chipped in 12 assists in the victory for Austin College. Overall, the 'Roos had a .247 hitting percentage with 21 total team blocks.

In the second match of the evening, the 'Roos cruised to 25-17, 25-16 wins in the first two sets before dropping a tough 23-25 third set. However, the 'Roos bounced back to win the fourth set 25-21 to earn the victory. Abernethy and Tseng each posted double-doubles, with Abernethy leading Austin College with 10 kills and adding 10 digs while Tseng paced the 'Roos with 17 assists and had 10 digs of her own. Talley finished with 16 assists and eight digs, and Prazak finished the match with 18 digs. Smith and TJ Folse each had eight kills for Austin College, who once again dominated at the net with 17 total blocks as a team. 

The 'Roos wrap up the weekend tomorrow with a match against Sul Ross State at noon in Hughey Gym.
