Austin College Volleyball Sweeps Schreiner

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team needed to battle for its two wins against visiting Schreiner University on Saturday, but the 'Roos came away with 3-2 and 3-1 victories to run their winning streak to six matches and improve to 6-2 on the year.

In the first match of the day, the 'Roos took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-21, but the Mountaineers answered with two straight victories of their own, winning by scores of 25-23 and 25-21. Austin College managed to stop Schreiner's momentum in the fifth set on their way to a 15-10 win to clinch the match. Olivia Linton had a huge morning for the 'Roos, leading the way with 23 kills and a .422 hitting percentage. Victoria Smith added nine kills, and Shelbi Cook added eight. 

Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos with 24 digs, while Riley Abernathy added 15. Ali Horton had 31 assists and 10 digs, and Brooklyn Talley had 24 assists in the victory.

The 'Roos once again took a 2-0 lead to open the second match, cruising to a 25-12 set one win before having to come from behind for a 27-25 set two win. The Mountaineers had taken a 24-20 lead in the second set before Austin College fought back to earn th win. Schreiner picked up a 25-23 win in the third set, and the match ended with a back-and-forth fourth set, with the 'Roos coming out on top 30-28. Smith had 13 kills and Linton added 12 in the victory, while Horton had 32 assists, 12 digs, and eight service aces. Prazak had 23 digs, and Talley added 16 assists. 

Abernathy had a strong game for the 'Roos as well, with eight kills and 14 digs, and Cook had nine kills in the win.
