'Roo Volleyball Drops Two in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Austin College volleyball team opened its weekend trip to the Pacific Northwest with a pair of 3-1 losses against George Fox and Lewis & Clark, dropping the 'Roos to 4-7 overall on the year. The 'Roos will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they take on Mills and Pacific.

Against George Fox, the 'Roos took the first set 25-22, but fell 22-25, 21-25, 22-25 in the next three. Austin College struggled on the attack in the match, hitting just .112 as a team, and had 11 service errors. Shelbi Cook led Austin College with 11 kills, and Karson Dykes added eight. Brooklyn Talley had 21 assists and 15 digs, while Allison Pierce added 19 assists. Mari Prazak led Austin College with 19 digs, while Hannah Arbaugh added 15 and Cassidy Watson had 12.

In the second match of the day against Lewis & Clark, the 'Roos once again opened up with a first set win, taking a 1-0 lead with a score of 25-14. However, Lewis & Clark won the next three 22-25, 24-26, 20-25 to hand Austin College the defeat. Dykes had a team-best 14 kills and Cook added 12. Talley had 24 assists and paced the 'Roos with 27 digs, while Prazak had 26 digs in the loss. Pierce chipped in 12 assists and eight digs for the 'Roos.
