'Roos Fall in Five to No. 24 UMHB

SHERMAN, Texas –The Austin College battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set, but No. 24-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor pulled away for a 15-7 victory to make it a 3-2 final on Tuesday night in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 13-12 overall on the year.

The Crusaders appeared to be on their way to a three-set victory after winning 25-11 and 25-15 in the first two sets, but Austin College took sets three and four by scores of 25-21 and 25-20 to force the decisive set. The 'Roos took a 6-5 lead in the fifth, but UMHB scored the next four points to take control and would end up scoring the final five points of the match as well. 

Christine Royalty led Austin College with 15 kills and a .591 hitting percentage, adding five total blocks. Aelyn Rodriguez had 12 kills and four block assists, and Mayson Kennon had 11 kills in the loss. Brooklyn Talley had 29 assists and 11 digs, and Mari Prazak had 15 digs to lead the 'Roos. Kristen Massey totaled six blocks, including three solo blocks. 

The 'Roos are back in action on Saturday when they host Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foes Centenary and Southwestern, with the first match beginning at 11:00 a.m.
