Austin College Tops Mid-America Christian

SHERMAN, Texas –After falling behind two sets to one, the Austin College volleyball team rallied back to earn a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 11-9 overall on the year.

Austin College dominated early, taking a 25-16 win in the first set before Mid-America Christian took sets two and three by scores of 25-22 and 25-20. However, the 'Roos regained the momentum in the fourth set, cruising to a 25-13 win before closing things out with a 15-13 fifth set win. Mayson Kennon led the 'Roos with 13 kills and added 11 digs, and Christine Royalty added 11 kills and four total blocks. Aelyn Rodriguez added nine kills, and Brooke Harris, Kristen Massey, and Shelbi Cook each had eight. 

Brooklyn Talley and Sam Fawcett each notched a double-double, with Talley finishing with 31 assists and 13 digs while Fawcett had 25 assists and 13 digs. Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos with 19 digs in the victory. 

The 'Roos are off until October 12, when they head to Colorado Springs to get back into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conferenc action against Johnson & Wales and Colorado College.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
