'Roo Volleyball Falls to Texas Lutheran

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team took the opening set but dropped the next three in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Texas Lutheran in the opening round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday morning. The 'Roos are now 24-13 overall and will take on Centenary College tomorrow in the 5th/6th place match.

The 'Roos hit .452 as a team in a 25-22 opening set victory, but couldn't get above .222 the rest of the way, falling 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 in the ensuing three sets in a tightly contested loss. Dani DeWitt had a team-best 16 kills and boasted a .359 hitting percentage in the loss, and Mayson Kennon added 13 kills for the 'Roos. Katie Ingle had 42 assists and nine digs while also chipping in five kills. Tatiana Ferrari led three Austin College players who notched double digits in digs, coming up with 27 in the match. Rebekah Bowden chipped in seven kills and five block assists.
