'Roo Volleyball Clinches Spot in SCAC Tournament

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College volleyball team went 2-1 this weekend with wins over Centenary and the University of Dallas, in addition to a loss to No. 2-ranked Colorado College. The two victories for the 'Roos were enough to clinch a spot in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Austin College is now 19-8 overall, and 5-5 in SCAC play after the weekend.

The 'Roos opened the weekend on Friday with a 3-0 victory over Centenary, winning 25-17, 25-11, 25-20 thanks in large part to a .386 team hitting percentage. Five players had at least six kills in the match, led by seven apiece from Brooke Harris and Kristen Massey. Katie Ingle had 25 assists, and Tatiana Ferrari led the 'Roos with eight digs. Rebekah Bowden had four total blocks in the victory.

Austin College dropped its next match of the weekend, falling 25-12, 25-18, 25-19 to host Colorado College. Mayson Kennon had nine kills and Harris and Dani DeWitt each added five, while Ingle once again led the 'Roos with 26 assists and added 11 digs. Ferrari again paced Austin College with 16 digs in the loss.

Harris closed out the weekend with 11 kills and a .647 hitting percentage to lead the 'Roos to a 25-12, 25-14, 25-22 win over the Univerity of Dallas on Saturday afternoon, and Austin College hit .306 overall as a team. Kennon had nine kills and Massey added eight, with Ferrari adding 16 more digs and Ingle wrapping up the weekend with 28 assists.
