Austin College Falls Short Against No. 9 UT-Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team battled, but came up short in a three set loss against the No. 9-ranked University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday night in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos fall to 13-8 overall this season with the defeat.

The match was back and forth throughout, but the Comets managed to put Austin College away at the end of each set, topping the 'Roos by scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-22. In the first set Austin College fought back from being down 21-11 to pull within two at 24-22 before UTD scored the decisive point, and in the second set the 'Roos led 23-20 before five straight points for the Comets. In the third set, the 'Roos led 18-17 but UTD scored five in a row to take control and Austin College was unable to counter.

Presleigh Watson had 10 kills with a .571 hitting percentage in the match, and Katie Ingle had a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs for Austin College. Rebekah Bowden and Aelyn Rodriguez each had seven kills, and Cassidy Watson had 11 digs for Austin College in the loss.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
