'Roos Split with Trinity and TLU

The Austin College volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 match against Trinity before bouncing back with a big, five-set win over Texas Lutheran to hit the 20 win mark for the 18th straight season. The 'Roos are now 20-12 overall and 7-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos opened the day with a hard fought defeat against Trinity, as the 'Roos won the first set 25-20 before dropping set two 25-22. Austin College took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-19 third set victory, but the Tigers responded with a 25-14 win to send it to a fifth set, where Trinity won 15-11. Katie Ingle had a big all-around game, with 10 kills to go along with 17 assists, six digs, and five block assists. Presleigh Watson added 10 kills, and Rebekah Bowden added seven kills and 11 total blocks. Lauren Wulz had 18 assists and Rachel Fusselman had 15 digs to pace the 'Roos.

In the second match of the day for the 'Roos, Austin College fell behind 2-0 before rallying for a 3-2 win over TLU. The 'Roos dropped the first two sets 25-22 and 25-21 before winning set three 25-19 and set four 25-22, and completed the come from behind win with a 15-10 fifth set victory. Watson had a huge match for the 'Roos with 15 kills and eight total blocks, and Madison Lee added 15 kills and five digs. Ingle had 40 assists to go along with 14 digs and six kills, and Reygan Holloman added eight kills, six digs, and six total blocks.

The 'Roos are back in action on Saturday with matches against Schreiner and Southwestern in Colorado Springs. Saturday's matches are the last of the SCAC season, with the 'Roos currently jockeying for seeding position. Austin College is tied with TLU for the third best conference record entering the final day of conference competition.
