'Roo Volleyball Falls in SCAC Quarterfinals

The Austin College volleyball team fell to a high powered Colorado College team in the opening round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, as the host 'Roos dropped a 3-0 decision against the No. 15-ranked Tigers. Austin College is now 21-18 overall this season with the loss.

The 'Roos battled Colorado College in the opening set before falling 25-20, but the Tigers started to take control in the final two sets as they topped the 'Roos 25-15 and 25-16. Austin College struggled with its attacking throughout the match, finishing with a team hitting-percentage of .031. Madison Lee finished with seven kills and seven digs to lead the 'Roos, and added two block assists

Madi McVay added five kills and nine digs, and Reygan Holloman finished with four kills. Lauren Wulz had 11 assists to lead Austin College and added eight digs and Chandler Sherman added eight assists, while Presleigh Watson had three kills and five block assists in the loss.

Austin College, which entered the tournament as the No. 6-seed, will take on No. 5-seed Texas Lutheran tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in the 5th/6th place match. Top seeded Trinity will take on No. 2-seed Southwestern in the SCAC Championship at 4:30 p.m. in Hughey Gym.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
