'Roos Drop Three to Close Regular Season

The Austin College volleyball team fell in its final three matches of the season at the Southwestern Halloween Invitational, dropping matches to UT-Tyler, Our Lady of the Lake, and UT-Dallas to finish the regular season with a record of 21-17.

In the team's weekend opening match against Texas-Tyler, the 'Roos fought hard but fell 3-2 with scores of 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 18-25, 13-15. Reygan Holloman had a team-high 13 kills, and Rebekah Bowden finished with 11 kills and a .579 hitting percentage, and added 12 total blocks. Madison Lee added 11 kills and Kelsey Lillis added 10, while Chandler Sherman had 25 assists and Lauren Wulz added 23. Rachel Fusselman had a team-best 19 digs.

In the second match of the weekend against OLLU, the 'Roos fell 27-29, 21-25, 17-25, with Lee pacing the 'Roos with 10 kills, eight digs, and four total blocks. Bowden had five kills, Wulz had 14 assists and Sherman added 13 assists in the loss.

The 'Roos closed out the tournament on Saturday against UT-Dallas, falling 19-25, 22-25, 21-25 to the Comets. Lee led the 'Roos with seven kills and added six digs and three service aces. Bowden had five kills and four blocks, and Wulz had 17 assists to lead the 'Roos. Fusselman finished with a team-best 18 digs.

Austin College returns to Sherman next weekend as the host of the SCAC Tournament. The 'Roos enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed.
