Volleyball Takes One of Three at SCAC Divisional

The Austin College volleyball team fell to No. 10-ranked Colorado College and the University of Dallas before cruising past Centenary in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional held in Colorado Springs this weekend. The 'Roos are now 19-11 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

The 'Roos played Colorado College tough on Friday before falling 25-22, 25-22, 25-18, with Madison Lee tallying a team-best seven kills to go along with four digs. Presleigh Watson had six kills and five total blocks, and Madi McVay had a team-high 15 digs. Rachel Fusselman added 11 digs, and Lauren Wulz had 16 assists to lead the 'Roos.

In the team's second match of the weekend against Dallas, the 'Roos dropped a hard fought battle with the Crusaders 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 17-25, 16-18. Austin College struggled with its hitting percentage in those final three sets, failing to top .100 in any of them. Rebekah Bowden had an outstanding performance with 10 kills and a .290 hitting percentage and added nine total blocks, and Lee added 10 kills and eight digs.

Watson had nine kills and six total blocks, and Fusselman had 25 digs while McVay finished with 21. Chandler Sherman led the 'Roos with 23 assists, and Wulz added 18 aassists and 17 digs.

In the final match of the weekend, the 'Roos topped Centenary 26-24, 25-16, 25-18 and boasted a team hitting percentage of .324 with 17 total blocks as a team. Dani DeWitt led the way with eight kills, six digs, and four blocks, and Rebecca Franklin had seven kills against zero hitting errors. Lee finished with six kills and a team-best 11 digs, and Wulz had 15 assists.
