'Roo Volleyball Splits on Day One of SCAC Divisional

The Austin College volleyball team split its two matches at the second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional on Saturday, topping Schreiner 3-0 before falling 3-1 to Texas Lutheran. The 'Roos are now 15-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

In the first match of the day against the Mountaineers, the 'Roos cruised to a 25-10 win in the first set before having to battle to wins of 28-26 and 27-25 in sets two and three to earn the victory. Presleigh Watson led the 'Roos with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .556, and Madison Lee added 11 kills and just two attacking errors while also coming up with eight digs. Lauren Wulz led the 'Roos with 23 assists, and Rachel Fusselman had 14 digs.

Against TLU, the 'Roos fell 25-18 in the first set before taking a 25-23 win in the second, but the Bulldogs topped Austin College 25-19 and 25-14 to hand the 'Roos the loss. Madi McVay had a team-best nine kills and added six digs, and Watson added eight kills and six block assists. Wulz finished with 14 assists and 17 digs, and Fusselman had a team-high 24 digs.

Austin College wraps up the conference weekend with a pair of matches on Sunday against Southwestern and No. 16-ranked Trinity.
