'Roo Volleyball Goes 1-1 in First SCAC Action of the Season

The Austin College volleyball team opened up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play in Irving on Saturday, topping Centenary 3-0 before falling to No. 10-ranked Colorado College 3-0 in the team's second match of the day. The 'Roos are now 13-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

In the first match of the day against the Ladies, Austin College won by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-17, with a team hitting percentage of .276 and 20 total team blocks. Presleigh Watson had 11 kills in 18 attempts for a hitting percentage of .556, and added six block assists to lead the way. Lauren Wulz had a team-best 19 assists, and Rachel Fusselman had eight digs to pace the 'Roos.

Against the high-powered Tigers, Austin College had a .059 team hitting percentage while Colorado College boasted a .330 percentage for the match. The Tigers topped the 'Roos 25-14, 25-13, 25-18, with Watson and Rebecca Franklin each notching five kills to lead Austin College. Chandler Sherman had a team-best nine digs, and Wulz had 14 assists in the loss.

Austin College closes out the SCAC Divisional against host University of Dallas on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
