The Austin College volleyball team closed out its season with a hard fought 3-2 win over Schreiner University on Saturday afternoon, bringing the team's final overall record to 22-20 this season.
The Austin College volleyball team closed out its season with a hard fought 3-2 win over Schreiner University on Saturday afternoon, bringing the team's final overall record to 22-20 this season. The 'Roos finish the year in fifth place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The 'Roos took an easy 25-16 win in the first set before Schreiner won 27-25 in the second, and after winning 25-21 in the third, the Mountaineers won 25-17 in the fourth to force a fifth set. Things looked bleak for Austin College as Schreiner took a 14-11 lead in the fifth set, but Austin College battled back to square things at 14-14 and after trading points, the 'Roos pulled out a 19-17 win to take the match.
Shelby Eaves had 19 kills and 24 digs to lead the way for Austin College, and Madison Lee turned in one of her best performances of the season with 18 kills against only five attacking errors. Presleigh Watson added 11 kills and four total blocks, and Rachel Fusselman had 38 digs. Alyse Magnuson had 31 assists and 22 digs, and Kelsey Klingler added 19 assists in the victory.
