Volleyball Splits on Day One of SCAC Tournament

The Austin College volleyball team fell to Texas Lutheran in the first round of the SCAC Tournament, but rebounded with a win over Centenary on Friday in San Antonio. The 'Roos are now 21-20 on the year as they head into their final match of the season tomorrow.

Austin College opened the day with a 3-0 loss to TLU, the fourth-seed in the tournament, losing by scores of 15-25, 26-28, 16-25. Shelby Eaves had 13 kills and 10 digs to lead the 'Roos, and Kelsey Klingler had 19 assists. Rachel Fusselman had 14 digs and Reygan Holloman had five total blocks in the loss.

In the second match of the day against Centenary, Eaves had 19 kills to break the Austin College career kills record as the 'Roos won 25-14, 25-13, 25-18. Eaves now has 1,923 kills, topping Kaitlin Listol's previous record of 1,921. Eaves also had a team-best 12 digs in the match, and is also now fourth in SCAC history in career kills. Klingler had 31 assists and Alyse Magnuson had 11 digs for the 'Roos.

Austin College finishes up the season tomorrow in the 5th/6th place match against sixth-seeded Schreiner at 1:30 p.m.
