SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams stepped out of conference play to host LeTourneau University on Saturday afternoon, with the 'Roo women falling 8-1 while the men took a 9-0 defeat.
On the women's side, the 'Roos defaulted on lines two and three in doubles play, while the pairing of Karsyn Clouse and Bailey Standokes competed on line one but suffered an 8-2 loss. Clouse also took the court playing flight one singles, dropping a 0-6, 1-6 decision, while Emma Davidson fell 3-6, 0-6 on line two. Standokes clinched a win in a hardfought line three match with scores of 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).
For the men, the team of Trey Salyer and Evan Pezirtzoglou were defeated 8-1 playing line one doubles, while Joel Colunga and Zeneth Mata were bested 8-4 on line two. Austin College defaulted its line three doubles match. Salyer fell 1-6, 2-6 on line one in singles play, and Pezirtzoglou took a 0-6, 1-6 loss on line two. Colunga fell 3-6, 1-6 playing on line three, and Mata rounded out the match with a 1-6, 2-6 defeat on line four as Austin College defaulted lines four and five.
